Leading lady weaving magic as choreographer in ‘rock fantasy’

NO longer just content with being the leading lady, Bankstown Theatre Company’s Bronte Tonks has now taken over the role of chief choreographer for their latest production, ‘We Will Rock You’, which opens this Friday night.

The Revesby resident played the dance captain in ‘Footloose’ and as well as being ‘Cinderella’ in ‘Into The Woods’, was also the assistant choreographer which she said ignited her latest performing arts passion.
Dancing and singing from a young age, she said it’s been wonderful to watch how everyone has developed and flourished in their roles in such a high energy, creative production.
“It’s been such an amazing process and it’s all come together perfectly well,” she said.
“The rock fantasy is such a visual feast, with so many contrasting dance moves and styles, from the rigid, robotic movements of the restricted society in the story, to the bohemian and yuppy styles featured by the two dance ensembles.”
Working with director Daniel Conway, Bronte says the depth of talent in the cast is incredible.
“There’s such a wide range of ages and backgrounds involved and so much humour throughout and Daniel has found the glue which makes everything seamless,” she said.
Featuring Queen’s greatest hits, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, I Want to Break Free, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Under Pressure, A Kind of Magic and more, she says this record-breaking show is a must-see for rock fans of all ages.
“This show is a celebration of some of the best rock music ever written – it’s just hit after hit after hit,” she said.
It’s on offer from April 26 to May 5, with tickets (from $45) available from bankstowntheatrecompany.com
