Zreika shock over Order of Australia win

CUMBERLAND Councillor Toufic ‘Tom’ Zreika said he was shocked after learning he had been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) last week for service to the community, local government and the law.

“I am just a humble bloke from the sticks and certainly was not expecting any recognition,” he said.
“But it’s a welcome surprise and I’m very happy.”
Tom’s achievements include being AusRelief Chairman and co-founder since 2014, Cumberland Councillor since 2017, Auburn Council Councillor, 2004-2008, NSW Law Society member since 2000, Sterling Legal managing partner since 2002, Admitted High Court Solicitor, 2008, Admitted Notary Public, 2009; Founder, Director, Association for Conciliation and Arbitration, 2012; and Founder, General Counsel, Centre for Arbitration and the Resolution of Disputes (CARD), 2013.
He is also former president of the Lebanese Muslim Association and co-founder of the Australian National Imams Council.
Tom’s professional appointments include Fellow, Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries, 2013; Director, Chanel International, 2007-2009; member, Real Estate Institute of NSW since 2007; and member, Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2006.
