Youth jump, run to medal wins

AUSTRALIA’S future star athletes are already starting to shine.

Granville South Public (GSPS) took part in the Auburn Zone Athletics Carnival earlier this month which saw schools from across the area sending in their very best for a shot at glory.
“Yes, we are all so very proud of them,” an elated principal Karen Macphail said, adding she couldn’t be happier with the results after her students had managed to claim several medals from the local showdown.
Amazingly the huge results achieved can be accredited to the hard work of three students.
Ahmed won two medals, a silver and bronze, in the senior boys high jump and 100m dash, respectively; Shady wowed the crowd on his way to winning the 800m sprint, and in the 100m, took home the silver; and the incredible Mervey placed second in the 800m race and third in the 11yrs girls high jump and really made her presence known when she flew across the long jump pit to take out first place.
