Through the not-for-profit Elemental Aim, students have the opportunity to contribute to social change worldwide, with the project helping support Train Platform Schools in India, Floating Schools in Bangladesh and Mobile Schools in Nicaragua.
The project involves schools being provided with a free educational resource package that culminates in a fundraiser – money from which will be split between Elemental Aim’s partner school and participating school.
After the successful pilot at Revesby, the group will be looking to expand and implement the project in other primary schools.
Revesby Public teacher Christina George said: “I would definitely recommend the unit of work as it made my students think, not just about themselves but globally, to look outside their world. It taught them empathy as well as gratitude; that is what this program can do.”
