Biggest win of season

SYDNEY FC smashed their way into the Hyundai A-League grand final with a 6-1 annihilation of Melbourne Victory.

Sydney FC fly to top after smashing victory

The Sky Blues produced their biggest win of the season and after winning 10 of their last 11 meetings with Perth, are confident leading into this Sunday’s Grand Final at Optus Stadium in Perth. Sydney FC’s Alex Brosque says the team can take a lot of confidence from the win. “It was unexpected to put so many goals past Melbourne … One of those nights when everything goes the way you hope it will,” he said. Head coach Steve Corica says it’s a great challenge to go there (Perth) and win away from home. He says they (Sydney FC) have been there before and they’ve got the experience but “Perth are a good team and we need to be ready”. Full of praise for his team, Corica said they played exceptionally well. “I did say that at some stage, we will smash some team,” he said. The Sky Blues expect to be backed by a very vocal support at Optus Stadium on Sunday as Corica’s men look to win a record equalling fourth Hyundai A-League Championship. Supporters wishing to travel to Perth for the Grand Final are advised that there are a number of commercial airline seats still on sale.
