Assistant Principal K-6 Rachael Bryant says the day is celebrated to spread awareness of the significance of bees and other pollinators for our survival.
“Not everybody realises that without bees, we would have significant food scarcity problems,” she said.
“The children received lots of information and then at lunchtime, our resident apiarist (and Year 6 teacher) brought our native bee hive down for the children to see.
“The children were incredibly excited and curious and have been buzzing about it ever since.”

MAKING their day extra sweet, Holy Saviour School Greenacre students were given honey samples by an adult-sized ‘bee’ in honour of World Bee Day on May 20.
