World’s biggest five-a-side battle

THE world’s biggest youth five-a-side tournament, Neymar Jr’s Five, returns later this month.

Set to unearth Western Sydney’s best five-a-side talent, the mixed competition is open to 16-25 year old players from May 27-31.
The overall champions will represent Australia and score an all-expenses-paid trip to the World Final in Brazil.
In 2018, more than 125,000 youths competed in 62 countries in the Brazilian star’s signature tournament, culminating in the World Final where the winners played in a friendly match against Neymar Jr and his teammates.

The format is simple – each match runs for 10 minutes with no goalkeepers. Teams lose a player every time the opposition scores. The team with the highest score or number of remaining players, move on to the next round.
Teams can comprise both male and female players aged 16-25. Each team is allowed two players aged 25 plus, however it is not compulsory. Registration fee per team is $100 which includes two event jerseys per registered player. The five day competition will be held in the grounds of Parramatta jail.

The competition brings together young players from all corners of the world to celebrate their shared passion – football. More than 40 countries will be hosting tournament qualifiers, where players will compete with the same dream of making it through the qualifiers, to their national final to book a ticket to the World Final, which will be celebrated for the fourth time at Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr in Praia Grande, Brazil.
