Among the 175 registered riders will be world champions, Chris Farris (United States), Claire Parks (United States) and Revin Cachat (United States).
A temporary purpose-built skatepark for the event (October 20-22) has been created for the championships, which is now in its 11th year, but is being held in Sydney for the first time ever.
International Scooter Federation (ISF) Vice President and owner of Sydney’s Monster Skate Park, Darren Hughes said the course had taken more than 200 hours to assemble and was state-of-the art which would allow for some of the world’s best tricks to be performed in front of what they expected to be record crowds.
“We’ve seen a huge increase in the popularity of scootering in Australia especially during covid lockdowns so to have the world championships being held in Sydney’s west is a real coup,” Mr Hughes said.
The event will now feature five recognised rider categories: Men’s Pro Park, Women’s Park, Street, Juniors (non-pro riders 15 and under), and Opens (non-pro riders 16 and over).
Flying the flag for Australia will be Matty Ceravolo and Emily Gibson.
