He holds the LIttle Athletics NSW and Australia records for all time best performance as well as the Athletics NSW 100m Hurdles record which he took off Olympic medallist Nick Hough.
Qualifying for the Nationals All Schools Championships in Perth in December after taking out both the 100m and 200m Hurdles earlier this month in the NSW All Schools Championships, Oliver is ranked number one in Australia in his age group.
Dad Greg, who was a State champion in the 100m Hurdles at the same age, said Oliver was extremely talented and worked hard for his success, training at least three days a week as well as taking part in competitions.
“He also plays touch football and did gymnastics for seven or eight years,” he said.
“He has definitely refined his technique now and his mother Anna and I are excited to see how far he can go.”
Also a talented athlete and sprinter, Oliver’s brother Zach, 17, has taken a break due to studying and now sitting for the HSC.
“They’re both natural athletes and determined to do the best they can,” Greg said.
World title just a hurdle away
GEORGES Hall Hurdler Oliver Facer, 15, is just a win away from being able to compete at the World Junior Championships in Peru in August.
