World Champion wrestler taking on local favourite Keegan in title battle

AN Australian has never won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship before but local favourite Keegan Brettle is determined to change all that when he takes on current champion, American EC3 (Ethan Carter III) at Padstow RSL this month.

The championship, which dates back to 1908 and features some of the greatest professional wrestlers in history, was heavily featured in Zac Efron’s latest film ‘The Iron Claw’ based on the life of famous wrestling family, The Von Erichs.
A four times World Heavyweight Champion, who has held the current championship for 300 days, EC3 is among the most in demand professional wrestlers in the world today, according to All Star Wrestling promoter Mitch Christen.
“This is really a match that any professional wrestling fan has to be present for, not just for the historical significance but because it’s going to genuinely be a fantastic wrestling match between one of Australia’s best wrestlers in Keegan and the world’s best in EC3,” Mitch said.
“The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) selected Keegan as the top international contender after he won the All-Star Wrestling Heavyweight Title back in April and they’ve sanctioned the championship match which is absolutely huge for us as an organisation, huge for Keegan’s career and huge for the community as the championship hasn’t been defended here in many years.”
Keegan said: “Challenging for the NWA World Heavyweight Title will be the biggest moment of my wrestling career and I can’t wait to make all of my fans proud.”
