Women’s shelter pleas for help unrelenting

WOMEN’S shelter Biyani House Revesby is urgently seeking donations to support women and children escaping domestic violence as part of their fundraising efforts following Homelessness Week.

Biyani CEO Lisa Annabel said requests for assistance had remained unrelenting since opening their doors in January 2022.
The shelter provided crisis accommodation to 30 women and 31 children in 2023.
In the first six months of 2024, another 16 women and 18 children have found refuge while they seek safe, permanent housing.
“Women and children fleeing violence is the second biggest issue driving up homelessness in Australia,” Lisa said.
“Almost half we accommodate, tell us they are seeking support is to escape domestic and family violence.
“Without crisis accommodation like ours, they are left in incredibly vulnerable positions.”
