The shelter, known for providing a safe space and essential resources to women and children escaping domestic violence and homelessness, is in urgent need of financial assistance to meet the increased demand during this challenging time.
Opening in 2022, Biyani House has been a beacon of hope offering not just crisis accommodation for over 70 women and children but also outreach services to women across the region and phone support to over 3,000 women reaching out for assistance related to homelessness, domestic violence or eviction.
The dedicated staff at Biyani House work tirelessly to ensure that every woman and child who seeks help, receives the support they need but the holiday season puts a huge strain on their resources.
Shelter CEO Lisa Annabel expressed gratitude for the ongoing community support but emphasised the pressing need for additional funds.
“The holiday season is particularly tough for those facing adversity, and our goal is to provide them with comfort and support to help them heal and start their journey to independence,” she said.
“Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact and bring a glimmer of hope to those in need during the festive season.”
