Winning the toss and electing to bat, they lost both openers early, however Emma Newman and Emily Lawler steadied the innings.
Some excellent running by Dharmini Chauhan and Amber Smith helped Bankstown to a competitive total of 106.
Chasing 107, Emily Lawler dismissed Campbelltown’s opener early on. Alice Whelan and Amber Smith bowled tightly, with pick of the bowlers Smith 2-17 (4), Sumona 2-20 (4) and Whelan 2-25 (4)
Unfortunately a boundary off the last ball tied the scores, followed by drama when miscounting resulted in the win going to Campbelltown.
Congratulations to Amber Smith on a fantastic debut.
Second Grade had another great win, making it 3 from 3.
Aleisha Rutherford (34) and Cynthia Coghlan (73) combined for a 90-run partnership before Camryn Harland and Cynthia Coghlan brought the total to 5/153 off 20 overs.
The highlight was Aleisha Rutherford’s direct hit run out. Campbelltown-Camden finished with 1/84 off their 20 overs
The U18 Brewer Shield side were also victorious.
With Milla Bruce getting a wicket against an opener, Lily Salter bowling and the batter hitting it straight into Jess Robertson’s hands and Rylka Smythe’s bowling, Bankstown kept Campbelltown’s runs to 3-103.
Jess Robertson (43 runs off 50) and Camryn Harland (42 runs off 45) got Bankstown the winning runs by the 16th over.
Women’s cricket teams enjoy two exciting wins
IT was another close encounter for Bankstown Sports Women’s Cricket Club (BSWCC) First Grade who unfortunately finished on the wrong side of the ledger.
