Women named as award contenders

SUCCESSFUL small business finance provider Ulrika Lobo knew a friend nominated her for a Western Sydney Women Award in a particular category so was in complete shock when she found out she had been named a finalist in another category.

It followed the Riverwood financier generating $1,200,000 for her clients and raising $17,000,000 in investment capital for Sparrow Loans.
“My husband Vincent knew about my friend’s gesture but secretly felt I was better suited to the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award,” she said.
“It was such a sweet surprise discovering this, finding out at the same time that I had reached the finals in his category; I am very excited to be receiving the recognition.”
Ulrika is one of three Canterbury Bankstown women up for a Western Sydney Women Award.
Punchbowl’s Sabah Swade is vying for a ‘Young Woman of the Year’ Award after dedicating her time to helping others.
A true leader who is mature beyond her years, Saba raises funds for charities and has twice cut her hair in the World’s Greatest Shave.
Up for a ‘Performing & Creative Arts’ Award, Yagoona’s Sheila Ngoc Pham is a writer, artist, producer, curator and speaker who works with Bankstown Arts Centre as well as for projects in the UK and Thailand.
“I was very humbled when I met some of the other finalists,” she said.
“I am in great company and feel very honoured.”
Winners will be announced on November 16.
