To get a taste of the roles existing in aviation and coming up at the new airport, the council is partnering with the Western Sydney Women’s Empowering and Enablement Program to present a free Women in Aviation Job Skills Workshop at Auburn Centre for Community this Thursday, October 26, 10am-1pm.
Facilitator Suzie Evans said they would be discussing aviation employment areas such as cabin crew, flight attendant, borderforce, pilot, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance, technology, analytics, catering, and ground and operation management.
“We’re hoping to get women from all different backgrounds, ages and stages of life and levels of skill and qualification, from school leavers and returning to work, to those seeking a change of career,” she said.
“We can also help women with CV and cover letter writing tips when applying for jobs.
“With Western Sydney Airport set to open in 2026, we are passionate about creating awareness around the job opportunities that will be created for Western Sydney women and ensure they are ready to tackle them.”
Suzie said that as well as job skill requirements, qualifications and training pathways to access careers, they also share current job advertisements, with many coming from contractors in aviation in general at the workshops.
