Women cricketers bat way into winner’s circle

BANKSTOWN Sports Women’s Cricket Club (BSWCC) First Grade had a fantastic win over Gordon despite only having 10 players to do all the work.

They reached a total of 155 and had Gordon all out for 92.
Best with the bat were Jade Errington (55), Amy Hunter (30), Claire Jones (20) and Alice Whelan (15). Special mention to Megan McColl, 4-21 off 10 and Karina Bell with two outstanding catches, (2-29) and Alice Whelan (2-5).
Second Grade had a loss to Manly, unable to chase down their 124 runs.
Special mention to Camryn Harland for excellent bowling figures of 4 for 33 off 10 and also Chrissa Stathis (21) and Aleshia Rutherford (15).
Third Grade also enjoyed a good game against second on the ladder Parramatta but fell 35 runs short.
Outstanding efforts in the field came from Alanna Yates, two wickets for 14 runs off 7 overs and Claire Jones took two wickets for 18 off 4 overs, also retiring on 50 runs not out.
In the Brewer Shield final round of the season, the BSWCC U18s team were able to finish the season with comfortable double bonus point win over Penrith.
