Women bat, bowl superbly but unable to clinch victory

ANOTHER week and another close game for Bankstown Sports Women’s Cricket Club First Grade. Winning the toss and electing to bowl, they kept St George-Sutherland to 109 in the allotted 20. Pick of the bowlers was debutant Ava Blackburn 2-19 (4).

In reply, Tahlia Dunne batted well including 5 fours but when she fell, others did too and in the end Bankstown were just short, finishing 9-100 in the 20.  Second Grade had their first loss against a strong St George Sutherland. After electing to bat, they lost 4 wickets for just 9 runs.
Aleisha Rutherford made 20 but in the end, BSWCC were bowled out for 69 and St George chased down the total in the 18th over.
Third Grade had a good game against Sydney.
Caroline Layt scored 41 runs but Sydney came out with a strong batting attack, winning the game with 4/118 off 28.2 overs.
Greer McKerron was outstanding with 2/24 and scored 12 not out.
BSWCC Brewer Shield had a close game against St George but struggled to get wickets.
Jessica McMillan (2/7) made the first breakthrough and Bareen Haider got 2, keeping Slayers to 111 runs.
Jess Robertson opened the batting with 47 runs off 42, with a whopping 8 fours. The rest of the batters assisted, including Ava Gaughan (17 runs off 26) and Haider (16 runs off 24). Bankstown finished their innings with 5-107 runs but lost by 5 runs.
