Revesby Workers’ Ladies Indoor Bowls Club is back in full swing and on the hunt for more members.
Formed in 1968 with 56 members and an elected committee, the club grew over the years to as many as 100 playing in teams and also competing individually for trophies.
Today games are still played in the Revesby Workers’ Club Auditorium each Wednesday, 10am-2pm.
“After a chaotic year that saw games suspended for months then return under strict Covid-19 rules, the club started back in earnest in January,” club secretary Connie Sorrenti said.
“Over the next few weeks, members will also start competing individually for the Achiever’s Trophy and the Presidents Cup Trophy.
“A by-product of Covid-19 was the decrease in club numbers so we are very keen to welcome any new members.”
It’s an easy game to learn and there is always someone ready to teach and assist.
Depending on the number of players on the day, teams of three and four are put together by a random draw with each team playing four games, two in the morning and two after lunch.
“Age is not an issue with mature aged players teaching the younger ones how it’s done; if you have a spare Wednesday, come join in,” Connie said.
