Woman in serious condition after dog attack

A WOMAN is in a serious but stable condition after she was attacked by a dog this afternoon.

About 12.50pm today (Tuesday, February 6), emergency services were called to Warburton Street, Condell Park, following reports of a dog attack.
Bystanders attempted to intervene, before police from Bankstown Police discharged a Taser to stop the attack.
A woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The dog has been secured by a dog handler.
Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Anyone with information is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A Canterbury Bankstown Council spokesperson said it is believed the woman was visiting the home in Condell Park, when the male American Staffordshire Terrier attacked her.
“Following the incident, the dog was willingly surrendered to Council by the owners to prevent further harm, and was transported to a holding facility,” she said.
“After assessing the dog, it is clear it could not be rehabilitated and has since been euthanised.”
