Fiji national, Maciu Tale Tuitubou, 36, was found with significant head injuries at a home on Louis Street, following reports of an altercation on Sunday, March 17, about 12.55pm.
A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene at the time however, no charges have been laid.
Cumberland Police Acting Commander, Superintendent Darren Beeche said detectives had conducted extensive inquiries, but were now appealing for more information from members of the public.
Police would like to speak to any witnesses, including anyone who saw Maciu before the alleged assault.
In particular, police would like to speak to a woman who was seen holding an open umbrella at the scene but left before the arrival of emergency services.
“We are reaching out for assistance from the community as we continue to investigate this for Maciu’s family, who have been left devastated,” Supt Beeche said.
“We especially need this woman to come forward as we believe she might have information that could assist police with their inquiries.
“My detectives are working hard to find the answers for Maciu’s family.”
Anyone with information which may assist investigators, is urged to call Cumberland Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
