Police were told a group of five males arrived at the park on Shannon Avenue in a white Ford Falcon, where a second group of up to 10 males had gathered about 7.40pm.
A fight ensured and two males were stabbed – a 17-year-old was stabbed in the chest and taken to hospital in a serious but not life-threatening condition and a 19-year-old was stabbed in the leg and taken to hospital in a stable condition for treatment.
The larger group of males fled the park on foot down Clarence Street and were described as being of Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern and Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged between 17 and 22.
