Playing at Riverwood Park in Coleridge Street and sponsored by Club Rivers, the club still has positions available in the Under 6s-11s, girls league tag 13s-15s, over 35 mens league tag and is also inviting women to register for their tackle footy side.
“We have an amazing bunch of women that have been smashing it at training ready to hit the park to play tackle footy but they are looking for a couple more players to finish off their squad,” Club Secretary and Treasurer Theresa Tasaico said.
“It’s a great way to get fit physically and mentally fit and form friendships with a great group of people.”
Theresa said that the sport was also ideal for girls and boys.
“It’s so good for them and children get confident quickly; they love watching the NRL players on TV and through playing the game, they can be just like their heroes,” she said.
“Some think rugby league is dangerous but that’s a misconception; children are taught the correct and safe way to tackle from the get-go plus league rules have changed so much to ensure the game is very safe.
“My two boys play rugby league and have never had an injury, but one of them did damage his shoulder playing OzTag; we have never had concerns about them in rugby league.”
With training held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm, new players or those interested in playing can just turn up or call Theresa on 0421 630 721 for further info.
