Where music lovers can take a trip around world

WOULD you love to take a trip around the world to enjoy the music of countries such as Romania, USA, Argentina and Japan?

Tickets to travel ’Around the World in 80 Minutes’ with The Modést Orchestra, are now on sale.
Headed by Canterbury founder and pilot (conductor) Panagiotis Karamanos, they will be taking off in Sydney this Saturday, May 6, from 7.30pm at the Verbrughhen Hall, Conservatorium of Music airport.
The master of 10 instruments and also a music teacher at Kambala Church of England Girls School, 27-year-old Panagiotis formed the Orchestra with a group of talented friends from his high school years at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
“Remembering our roots as an entirely student-run project, although now boasting professional musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, we collaborate with established and up-and-coming performers and established educators so that our orchestra is always at the forefront of new developments in music education, and the dynamic Australian music scene,” he said.
“Our ultimate goal is to stage memorable and high-quality performances while always maintaining a strong spirit of community and collaboration … and we’re sure you will enjoy this latest offering.”
The program also includes: The Rufous Entail, a work by our own Eleanor Brimblecombe; African Suite, Fela Sowande; Romanian Folk Dances, Béla Bartók; Danzon no. 2, Arturo Marquez; Oblivion, Astor Piazzolla; Yiddish Dances, Adam Gorb and Spirited Away Suite, Joe Hisaishi.
