Have say on park’s re-naming
COUNCILLORS have thrown their support behind a proposal to rename the Mona Park Sports Ground 3 after long-time Auburn Shire District Cricket Club secretary, Michael (Mike) John Wood. Cr Steve Christou said Mr Wood was a “very respected individual who has dedicated his life to community work selflessly”. The proposed name change will be open for public comment for 28 days before returning to the council.
Gearing up for Mega Bike Day
BICYCLE NSW will host a ‘Mega’ Bike Day with activities ranging from safety checks, bike maintenance, and an 18km bridge to bride ride at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, September 22. Participants need to bring their own bike for all events and will require a quick safety check prior to activities. Sessions are free but places are limited and registration is essential. Groups can apply for windfall
APPLICATIONS for 2019 Community Building Partnerships Grant close on Friday, September 27. In each NSW electorate, a total of $300,000 is available to not-for-profit organisations and councils to deliver local infrastructure projects. State MP for Granville, Julia Finn, is urging eligible groups to apply for the funds they need to install access ramps, refurbish community halls or update sporting facilities. Open day events at cemetery
EXPLORE the oldest, largest and most multicultural working cemetery in Australia at Rookwood Cemetery’s Open Day on Sunday, September 22, 10am to 3pm. Children can try painting, soapstone carving and photography workshops, and there will also be a lead lettering demonstration, traditional stone carving workshop and history talks along with a wide range of displays, stalls and live entertainment.
