Eleven programs across Western Sydney, will share in $1.9 million as part of the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Culture Up Late initiative, including almost $200,00 for Granville Centre Art Gallery to present a series of events that engage with exhibitions, art and culture to celebrate the community that the centre sits within.
The initiative is aimed at supporting local arts and cultural organisations in developing new programs, engaging new audiences and creating vibrant local precincts connecting local restaurants, bars, retailers and transport providers, through activations targeted to an after 5pm audience.
Minister for the Arts, John Graham, said while Western Sydney already had key cultural destinations, this coming spring to summer they’d become “undoubtedly Sydney’s must-visit locations”.
“We are declaring war on the lure of the couch with these nighttime cultural events,” he said.
“The Western Sydney Culture Up Late program will showcase some of the most exciting cultural offerings Sydney has to offer.
“It is part of Sydney bouncing back after a tough decade after dark.”
