Well deserved victory for thrilled unbeaten Hawks

NPL 3 Round 6 brought the Western NSW Mariners to Arlington Oval for a clash with the unbeaten Stanmore Hawks.

It was obvious from the start the Mariners who had yet to register a win, were not there to make the numbers.

Stanmore dominated possession and shots on goal, but the deadlock could not be broken at half-time.

The Hawks finally took the lead in the 53rd minute when Sam Awad snuck in the back post and headed home for the lead.

The Mariners equalised soon after from close range for a 1-1 score line.
Stanmore continued to dominate the match but could not convert further as the Mariners dug deep looking for their first points of the season.

With 10 to go, Stanmore finally found their scoring touch with Awad adding two further headers for his hat-trick.

Not to be outdone, super sub Peter Yannopoulos scored from Awad’s through ball and then added two 30 metre screamers to claim his hat-trick.
A deserved win for the unbeaten Hawks who now look forward to a mid-week clash with Hawkesbury.
