CUMBERLAND City Council has welcomed over 1,000 residents as new Australian citizens. There were 1,070 Cumberland residents from 46 different countries who took the oath to adopt Australia as their home at a huge citizenship ceremony at the Holroyd Centre last month. “It was such a fitting day to have joined our community as it also coincided with Harmony Day, an annual event where we celebrate and acknowledge Australia’s cultural diversity and belonging in such a multicultural nation,” Mayor Lisa Lake said.
