The new Beechcraft Baron, funded by the Australian Government and fuelled and maintained by the operator of Bankstown Airport, Aeria Management Group (AMG), has joined the Little Wings fleet, dedicated to transporting seriously ill children in regional, rural and remote locations.
Little Wings CEO Clare Pearson said “this little plane will allow us to continue to be able say ‘yes’ to families that need help”.
“It will allow us to support more families annually and make sure no-one goes without because of their postcode or circumstance,” she said.
Among the many people helped by Little Wings, was 11-year-old Isabelle, who has a rare form of cancer in her left hand. Little Wings flew Isabelle and her family from their mid-north coast home in Kempsey, to and from Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney and John Hunter Children’s Hospital in Newcastle.
“During the hardest year of our life, Little Wings has been there to help through it all,” Isabelle’s mother Crystal said.
Welcome ‘Baron’ to aid more sick
LITTLE Wings newest recruit will take it to a new level and help deliver an extra 800 flights each year, flying and driving sick children and their families to lifesaving medical treatments before returning them home.
