Weather plays havoc with women’s plans to unleash

IN the aftermath of Saturday’s storm, Bankstown Sports Womens Cricket Club (BSWCC) First Grade travelled to Raby for their round 9 game against Campbelltown-Camden only for the match to be abandoned.
The toss was going to be a big factor for BSWCC 2nd Grade against Northern District in a reduced game of 42 overs, with BSWCC bowled out in the 33rd over for 89.
As the wicket dried out, Northern Districts made batting look easy chasing down BSWCC in the 25th over 4 wickets down. The pick of the bowlers was Madison Rutherford 2/11 of 4.4 and Ava Blackburn with 1/8 off 6 overs including 2 maidens.
BSWCC 3rd Grade had a close game against second on the ladder, Manly Warringah.
Alanna Yates took 2 wickets for 20 off 4 overs and a catch in the field while Steph Kelly got a wicket for 13 off of 4 overs, keeping Manly to 5 for 88.
Claire Jones lead Bankstown to a strong start retiring on 32 not out with Caroline Layt retiring on 30 not out. Unfortunately Bankstown came just shy of a win, ending on 5 for 83.
Special mention to Eden Crain for taking her first catch.
BSWCC Brewers lost against Northern Districts, despite Zoe Wood (36 runs/71) and Milla Bruce (35 runs/103) starting strong, with Camryn Harland (16 runs/24) and Bareen Haider (39 runs/40), setting 165 runs.
Rayani Jayawardana (1/16 off 6), Jess Robertson (1/22 off 4) and Lily Salter (3/18 off 5) took key wickets. Special mention to Camryn (8 overs for 11 runs) and Bareen who took an amazing catch on the boundary. However, Bankstown weren’t able to make a breakthrough, losing in the 40th over.
