Wear orange to show support for our SES

BANKSTOWN Library and Knowledge Centre will be decked out in orange as a “thank you” to the selfless army of volunteers who make up the State Emergency Services (SES).

Mayor Khal Asfour has also called on the community to join council staff in wearing orange on Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day, May 19), as a symbolic gesture to the many men and women of “our SES”.
“It’s a small way of saying of thanks,” he said
“Our State Emergency Services personnel are true heroes and for most of us, we only acknowledge them in times of need. But in reality, they are there day in, day out … 24-hours of the day.
“Through times of storms and flooding, major car crashes or rescuing someone’s pet caught up a tree, you can always rely on them to be there to lend a helping hand.”
The Mayor said who couldn’t forget the amazing work they did at Chester Hill last month when what residents described as a mini tornado, tore through several streets, ripping off roofs and bringing down trees.
