Water supply being restored

Sydney Water has restored water supply to customers in Bankstown, Punchbowl and Revesby following a water main break on Punchbowl Rd, Punchbowl on Wednesday night.

About 7pm yesterday the main burst near South Terrace. Crews quickly isolated it and returned supply by 9.30pm. Some customers may have experienced lower than normal pressure before the repair was completed this morning and normal supply returned.
Traffic diversions remain in place for southbound lanes of Punchbowl Rd between The Boulevarde and South St until the RMS completes the road restoration. The roadway is expected to be reopened this afternoon.
This follows a nearby water main break on Punchbowl Rd on Monday afternoon. Sydney Water crews quickly isolated the break and restored supply to affected customers. Traffic diversions were required.
On both occasions, Sydney Water Customer Advocates liaised with affected customers, and alternate water supplies were provided to Bankstown Hospital, Bankstown Sports Club and a disability group home.

Periods of prolonged hot and dry weather like we’ve been experiencing are known to cause ground movement that puts additional pressure on pipes, resulting in increased water main breaks and leaks.
