Watch game to help child

Tony Podesta is inviting families to take part in a day of tennis to help the Westmead Children’s Hospital.

AS part of Tony Tennis Family Week to raise funds for the Westmead Children’s Hospital, families are being urged to head to Merrylands Tennis Courts in Burnett Street, and have a friendly hit.

Tony Tennis Family Week raising funds for hospital

“As a way to raise money for the hospital, I am inviting all students who attend their weekly tennis lesson to invite grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, brothers and sisters to an open day on Sunday, June 23, 10am-2pm,” tennis coach and manager, Tony Podesta, said.
“For every family who supports the week by coming to watch a game of tennis, I will donate $5 a family to the hospital. The child will also receive a free gift from the Tony Tennis family.”
Tony is also inviting all students to attend a free player evaluation where he will assess their current level.
“At the same time, students who do not attend lessons, will be invited for a free trial lesson. For every child who attends on the day, an additional $2 per child will be donated.”
Adults can take part in a cardio tennis workout the day, 12-1pm, followed by a parent/child tournament, 1-2pm, with Tony again donating $2 a player.
“Even if the parent doesn’t play tennis, I am running it as a ‘hotshot’ tournament where they can play across the court on a mini-net,” Tony explained.
“This is the 30th year I’ve been operating my coaching school and I like to support two charities a year; last year it was Sydney Children’s Hospital and Aussie farmers. This year, I am taking it to a new level by having a fundraising page on the Bandaged Bear website.
“I have already raised $500 and am aiming for $1,000 so I hope all the local families will get behind the day and help support a great cause.”
