Walk Safely to School Day benefitting young

GETTING to school will become much safer for students at Canterbury South Public with a new, safer crossing and wider footpaths in the surrounding streets on the way.

Transport Minister Jo Haylen, Roads Minister John Graham, Pedestrian Council of Australia CEO Harold Scruby, Canterbury MP Sophie Cotsis and Campsie police (pictured) joined students and staff at the school on Friday for Walk Safely to School Day (May 10), to talk about the benefits of walking to school and encouraging more to do so.
“The benefits of walking to school for children are enormous, and the Walk Safely to School Day provides a great opportunity for parents to talk to their kids about road safety, and healthy life-time travel habits,” Ms Haylen said.
