Vouchers available now to cover child sport fees

PRAISING the NSW Government’s Active Kids program, with the first $100 voucher now on offer until June 30, Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA) General Manager Leanne Millar says there has never been a better time to get children involved in sport.

The program offers families a $100 voucher for each school-enrolled child, to increase the participation of children in sport and physical activity, all while helping ease pressure on family budgets.
“Especially considering the success of the Socceroos and the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup,” Ms Millar said.
“All of BDAFA’s 19 clubs accept the vouchers which gives a big helping hand to struggling families and allows their children to give football a go; it’s a fantastic initiative.”
East Hills Baseball Club Vice President Jill Archer agreed.
“The good thing is that parents get two of those $100 vouchers a year,” she said.
“They usually spend the first $100 voucher on soccer, footy or AFL fees and the second one on summer sports like cricket or baseball as our season runs from September to March.
“The vouchers have really helped with our baseball recruitment and it’s wonderful that it gives parents some financial relief.”
All five Canterbury Bankstown Tennis Association (CBTA) centres – Childs Street, Panania, Deverall Park, Condell Park, Coleman Park, Georges Hall, Rose Park, Sefton and Smith Park, East Hills – accept the vouchers, with CBTA General Secretary Adele English saying they can be used to cover lessons or competitions.
“This is a wonderful initiative and makes a huge difference to families, especially if they have one or more children,” she said.
“My grandchildren certainly make good use of them and not just for tennis but other sports too.
“It’s really healthy for children to try a range of different sports to see what appeals and this is a cost-effective way parents can allow them to do just that.”
