Volunteer of Year wins for St John Ambulance

THREE St John Ambulance Granville Division volunteers have taken out Volunteer of the Year wins.

Taylor-Renee Coker has been named the 2023 Western Sydney Volunteer of the Year for her drive and commitment to the next generation of first aid responders throughout the region.
She was also named Western Sydney Young Winner, while Ziah Lloyd was named South Western Sydney Young Winner.
Taylor-Renee re-started the division’s junior program, growing it into the largest across any St John division in NSW.
Her commitment to diversity and inclusion is helping to train a new generation of community-based first aid responders.
She has given more than 2,700 hours of her time to the program, as well as other first aid support at events and venues such as the Qudos Bank Arena in Olympic Park.
Adult Volunteer of the Year Yianni Mavroidis has given more than 2,000 hours of his time over the past eight years providing emergency care and first aid to people throughout the region.
He provides first aid during major storms and at events such as the Royal Easter Show, concerts and other sporting venues.
A qualified paramedic, Yianni uses his professional skills and knowledge as a St John training officer and to support public safety and well-being at community and emergency events.
Granville Combined Division Officer Didier Moutia said volunteering was a long-standing and important part of Australian culture and should be celebrated when possible.
“This year I am proud to see three of Granville Combined Division’s volunteers receive NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards,” he said.
“These awards recognise their hard work and commitment.”
