Vital to reduce stress by eating well, exercising, better posture

PASSIONATE about improving health and wellness, A1 Health Padstow’s Tanya Ormsby has been a chiropractor since 1985 and has seven children, six of whom were born at home with a midwife.

“I have great belief in the body’s capacity to heal and repair,” she said. “Health is so precious. Yet there are so many mixed messages about what helps us to be strong and healthy.”
She said our body was always trying its best to serve us – our skin and bones repair and remodel as our digestive system breaks down our food and fights bugs that we may swallow.
However, when we are stressed our stomach doesn’t completely digest our food or kill the bugs.
“So then bugs and undigested food end up in our blood stream and can go anywhere,” she said.
“We can develop allergies and since our neck muscles relate to our stomach, we may then get pain or headaches or even sinus because of our inability to digest food. This can be called leaky gut.”
So what can we do?
She said it’s vital to reduce stress and take time to pray and meditate to help re-centre our minds.
“Exercise reduces stress too as does eating fresh food with lots of nutrients and avoiding processed foods and sugar,” she said.
“A misaligned spine can also cause inflammation; when we have our bones adjusted, the spine will be straighter and posture will improve, also boosting overall health.”
