Verge mowings based on need

RESIDENTS in Auburn, Berala, Lidcombe and Regents Park will now have to mow their own nature strips.

Cumberland Mayor Greg Cummings said the council had inherited three different service standards for the maintenance of verges, with the new policy introducing a “consistent approach that is fair for all our residents”.
He added that the council would continue to provide verge mowing services to pensioners and other residents who met hardship assistance criteria.
“The changes will also allow the council to expand the provision of our hardship and pension mowing service to include all of Cumberland’s residents,” he said.
“This ensures the provision of the council’s verge mowing service is based on a person’s needs and not their postcode.”
