Vaccination, nursing boost projects are ‘Best in West’

AUBURN Hospital and Qudos Bank Arena NSW Health Vaccination Centre have been recognised for their efforts in the past year, winning awards in Western Sydney Local Health District’s (WSLHD) ‘Best of the West Quality Awards’ during their annual celebration at Commbank Stadium.

Auburn Hospital was named the ‘Collaborative Team of the Year’ over its Staff Skills Stations project which increased nursing staff confidence from 7.6 to 8.69 (on a 10-point scale) when performing specific emergency nursing skills.
Medication-related incidents also significantly reduced by 76 per cent.
The Collaborative Team of the Year Award is presented to the team that has embodied WSLHD’s core values and demonstrated innovation to enhance skills, positive behaviours, integrity and inspiration for their team to deliver results.
Qudos Bank Arena NSW Health Vaccination Centre won the ‘Keeping People Healthy Award’, with its mass vaccination centre operating for 13 weeks and delivering 349,531 vaccinations.
The recipient of this award is recognised for innovative ideas which reduce negative health impacts through improvements in environmental health; provide action to support individuals, families and communities to make healthy lifestyle choices; and close the gap in Aboriginal health outcomes.
With more than 280 WSLHD staff gathered for the awards night presentation, host Richard Wilkins added extra star power while guests enjoyed a fabulous light show and dance entertainment while celebrating the award wins.
