Up for Young Achiever Award

GEORGES Hall woman Cvetanka Markovska has been nominated for a Young Achiever Award in the Western Sydney University Academic Achievement Award category.

Always a hard worker, she was only seven when her family migrated to Australia and could not speak English but within a year, was top of her class in spelling, reading and maths.
Now the 21-year-old is in her final year of studying a Bachelor of Information Communications Technology and a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is passionate about technology.
“I particularly enjoy programming and coding and believe I am fortunate as a female, to be able to enter the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) industry,” she said.
“I am a recipient of the George WH Lan Business scholarship (awarded in 2019). This was highly competitive as I was chosen from thousands of students undertaking business related study.
“Among other pursuits, I am also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, which represents a global network of high achieving students.”
Looking forward to next completing her Masters degree, Cvetanka hopes to encourage others on their academic journey and be employed as a university lecturer.
“I always recall the persistence of my family during difficult times,” she said.
“This uplifts me to the horizons of all opportunities. After all, if your shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
Category winners will each receive $2,000 in prizes and a trophy, with one named the 2021 NSW/ACT Young Achiever of the Year when winners are announced on April 30.
