Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the number of daily cases of Covid-19 has hit 1288, but health experts have given them the green light to the return of unlimited exercise – as it is across the rest of the state.
The changes come a day after Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour joined Local Government NSW President Linda Scott, in accusing the Premier of turning her back on the leaders of Sydney’s Covid hotspot areas.
Mayor Asfour is furious that the Premier has refused to meet 12 Greater Sydney mayors dealing with the outbreak.
He has called on the Premier to spend an hour the mayors and hear the hardship stories they are hearing every day.
“It is a royal snub to the mayors and the communities they represented.”
Despite a number of requests, the Mayor has not had any conversations with the Premier during this lockdown, however she did attend the Covid community forum on July 14.
“She only said a few words at the start and then left the meeting,” a council spokesperson said.
Unlimited exercise returns
Unlimited exercise returns tomorrow – as long as it’s between 5am and 9pm – with Covid-19 hotspots, such as Canterbury Bankstown still under a strict curfew.
