Unlimited exercise back

UNLIMITED exercise has returned – as long as it’s between 5am and 9pm – with Covid-19 hotspots, such as Cumberland still under a strict curfew.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the number of daily cases of Covid-19 had hit more than 1,400 per day, but health experts gave the green light to the return of unlimited exercise – as it is across the rest of the State.
Mayor Steve Christou welcomed the change but called for more support.
“My advocacy for our LGA and others under harsher restrictions is starting to pay dividends with unlimited exercise allowed from 5am-9pm,” he said.
“For the past few months, I’ve been speaking up to ask questions, advocate and hold the state and federal governments to account.
“I have spoken up on behalf of my community and highlighted their hardships and the impact on each and every household.”
Mayor Christou says numerous requests to meet with the Premier to give her a better understanding of how the community is suffering have fallen on deaf ears.
“A few weeks ago, I invited the Premier to Cumberland to witness the devastation and hardships these lockdown restrictions have caused,” he said.
“People can no longer afford to pay their mortgage, rent, bills and put food on the table to feed their children. To date, we have been met with radio silence. It’s extremely frustrating.
“We need the Premier to work with us. We need her to understand the realities of living under these restrictions to find a better way through the current phase of this pandemic.”
