With classes on offer for children, adults and seniors every week – from Tuesday through to Sunday, participants receive all of their painting materials for free, a complimentary beverage and get to take home their work of art at the end of each session.
Class facilitator and painting coach Vanessa Marr said she established the classes about five years ago so she would have friends to paint with.
“Everyone seems to love it and were so happy when classes resumed this year,” she said.
Beneficial at any age as a way to get creative and de-stress, Vanessa says there are many benefits to painting for everyone.
“For children, painting supports sensory development, colour learning, fine motor development, being able to express emotions and building self esteem,” she said.
“Painting is also a great activity to help teach concepts like shapes and letters in a fun and engaging way.
“While for seniors, it helps them to make new friends and use their social skills in a very relaxed, no pressure atmosphere.
“Painting forces people to use both sides of their brain simultaneously. This helps creativity and increases cognitive function which is especially wonderful for seniors.”
For a two-and-a-half hour class, the cost is $40 for adults and $25 for children.
A mobile painting and crafting service, Paint, Create & Congregate also hosts birthday parties, hens nights, baby showers, team building and fundraiser parties.
