Returning head coach Sailosi Tagicakibau said that though 2023 was a good year for the club on field, they fell short of the finals and pushing teams into the business end of the season.
“We were really gutted after the last game of the season,” he said.
“Our slow start to the season really cost us but unfortunately, sometimes that happens when you have a lot of personnel turnover.”
He said the focus for next season would be retaining players and coaches and then adding some icing to the top.
“I’ve learnt more in my first two years here then I would have in any other club, with so many challenges as well as exciting times, and I’m focused on making 2024 the biggest year the club has had in a long time,” he said.
Two Blues new general manager Randy Basra echoed the coach’s sentiments.
“While our on-field program excelled in 2023, our in-house operations needed some work,” he said.
“To make sure the club has a viable and success filled future, we need to make sure that our house firstly has a strong foundation and that we are being run effectively as a business.
“Coming into this position, I’m so enthusiastic and passionate about really making a difference to the club, the people, the supporters and the community and I cant wait to get stuck in to make sure the house is a success.”
