In the semi-finals, Julian defeated a Victorian boy and Edmund defeated a Western Australian boy before going on to play each other in a very close final.
Berala Carramar Hardcourt Tennis Association Secretary Steve Le Roy says they are very proud of their young members’ achievement.
“We’re sure this would be one of the rare times that brothers would have played against each other in a national final,” he said.
Mum Hongee and Dad Alan say the boys were happy just to make it to the grand final together.
“They wouldn’t have minded, whoever took out the win,” Hongee said.
Sporty from a young age, the boys were playing table tennis at age three or four before taking up soccer, athletics and now tennis.
“We have courts close to our house which is handy and our tennis association is extremely supportive of the boys and all young people generally,” she said.
“They will keep playing tennis but at age 10, it’s too early to know if they will try to take it up professionally as they are both very strong academically as well.”
