Grigoris Bithikotsis was among the greatest Greek songwriters and folk singers of the 20th century, with the tribute concert honouring his contribution to Greek music.
Sure to be a sell-out event, it will include the guest appearance of international vocalist Dimitris Basis, while a 13-piece band under the direction of Thanasis Pylarinos, will feature a stellar line-up of Bithikotsis’ hits.
Thanasis and his team will take the audience on a musical journey through the life of Bithikotsis, who composed over 80 songs, with the help of the magnificent band including three Bouzoukia.
“This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the birth of this great icon and it is only fitting that we pay tribute to the man whose songs had a major influence on the Greek music of today,” NSW Greek Orthodox Community president, Harry Danalis, said.
“His songs are still widely played and will always hold a special place in the heart of Greeks of generations past, present and future. We know Thanasis and his team will not disappoint.”
