They had to cancel the winter competition and move to Kelso Park South for the summer competition now on offer on Monday nights but large enough to allow all members to come together after the junior club, Bankstown Jets Touch Association, and the senior club merged under the latter’s banner.
Five teams were entered into the NSW Touch Association Vawdon Cup representative competition which runs from July to October – Mens Premiers league, Mens division 1, Womens division 3, Boys youth league and Girls youth league – with two teams making the grand final.
Mens Division 1 were runners up, losing the grand final to Parramatta and the Boys youth league lost to Hills in the Division 2 grand final.
BTFA Secretary Mette Kitiona said they had a grand final re-match against Parramatta after entering three teams in the NSW Touch State Cup in Port Macquarie in November.
“All teams, Mens Open As, Mens Open Bs and Womens Opens Bs, played well and our Mens Bs this time came out victorious and won the State Championship with our very own Keeron Hughes being named player of the match,” she said.
“Our Juniors are now preparing for Junior State Cup in February in Wagga Wagga, where we will be sending three teams in both boys and girls divisions.”
Kitiona said they celebrated the season with a barbecue and were looking forward to getting back to their home grounds.
“We have all of our club games returning to Vale of Ah and look forward to growing the game of touch football in the wider Bankstown area,” she said.
