Touch Football program invite for all-abilities

PLAYERS of ‘all abilities’ will be decked out in new t-shirts when they take part in the first Bankstown Jets Touch Football program next month at Vale of Ah Reserve in Milperra.

Perfect for males and females of all ages and abilities, the program will be run by four specially trained referees for six weeks from Monday, October 16, from 5.30pm.
After some passionate members’ requests to have an ‘all abilities’ program, the Jets contacted Bankstown Sports Club who agreed to sponsor the initiative.
Jets secretary Mette Kitiona is reaching out to NDIS providers and schools with special needs students to see if they would be interested in registering.
She said that with Touch Football, there’s no tackling so there’s a low risk of injury, everyone could play together and it would get you fit without you even noticing.
“It will be inclusive in a fun, social environment with a modified version of the game to provide a place on the field for people with intellectual and/or physical disability,” she said.
“It’s a simple sport to pick up, and the only skills required are running, passing and catching.”
She said Touch Football would improve your reflexes, giving you better results in your daily activities.
“It will improve heart health and blood pressure, increase muscle mass and bone strength, reduce body fat, build strength and stamina and improve your co-ordination – all while you’re having heaps of fun.”
