Top of Crop named as a Fresh Award finalist

COMPETING with hundreds of grocers in the Sydney basin, Menai Top of the Crop has been named as one of only four finalists in the ‘Best Small Business’ Category in this year’s Fresh Awards.

Second-time nominated Top of the Crop owner Nick Sergi says they have a good chance of taking home the award this year.
“Even if we don’t win, it’s great to get recognised for our efforts,” he said.
With every colourful fruit and vegetable on offer that you can imagine, as well as a delicious range of yoghurts, juices, eggs, nuts, tabouli, prepared salads and stir-fries, Nick sources the majority of his produce from the Sydney Markets.
“It’s my second home, I spend more time there and in the shop than I do at home,” he said.
A second-generation grocer, following the footsteps of his father who had a fruit shop at Yagoona for 35 years next to the Three Swallows Hotel, Nick’s business is also a family affair with his son helping out and youngest daughter serving at Top of the Crop.
“I only buy the very top quality produce and we offer a popular home delivery service which customers are loving, especially at the moment,” he said.
Winners will be announced on September 8.
