Top musicals in showcase

FANS of musical genius Andrew Lloyd Webber will enjoy tribute show ‘Music of the Night’ when it comes to Canterbury League Club this Saturday, August 31.

With hits spanning Webber’s 50-year career, the show will feature pianist Joey Fimmano, soprano Jessica Di Bartolo and musical theatre lead singer Dexter Villa, in a musical spectacular not to be missed.
“As part of my studies in the 80s, I chose to study and perform the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber – I started to attend his musicals and the love of his music grew over the years,” Fimmano said.
“Since I was a child, The Sound of Music has always been my favourite musical but in terms of musicals by Webber, I still think Phantom of the Opera is still my most favourite.”
Audience members can expect songs from Phantom of the Opera as well as songs from Webber’s other popular musicals and operas such as Les Miserables, Evita and Cats. Rounding up the show, there will also be songs like You Raise Me Up, Memory, This is the Moment, Hallelujah, The Prayer, Amigos Para Siempre, William Tell Overture, Nessun Dorma and many more.
“I think it’s important when people come to a show that they hear the songs they know and love,” Fimmano said.
“Everyone has their favourite Webber songs, but you can’t stray from the absolute favourites.”
Show starts at 7.30pm.
