Time to get silly for serious issue

FUNDS raised on Red Nose Day over the last 36 years, have resulted in an incredible 80 per cent reduction in sudden infant deaths.

That’s 12,069 babies saved and counting but shockingly, six babies still die everyday from stillbirth in Australia – that’s one every four hours and public support is needed more than ever.
Red Nose Day sparked a global movement and research into the reasons why babies die in their sleep.
And because of that, there are now six evidence-based steps all parents can take to reduce the risk of their baby dying in their sleep – keep baby on their back, keep head and face uncovered, keep baby smoke free before and after birth, sleep baby in a safe cot in your room and breastfeed.
You can support Red Nose Day this Friday, August 9, by making a donation, purchasing a red nose online or from Big W or hosting a red-themed fundraising event (Rock the Red) at your home, school or office or remembering someone special and fundraising in their honour.
You could also host a ‘Red’ movie night or bake-off and ask guests or participants to donate or dye your hair red and collect funding from sponsors.
Why not throw on some red and create your own endurance challenge or join an event to raise funds that way?
It’s time to get silly for a serious cause.
Every fundraising event helps keep the Red Nose 24/7 bereavement support line free and available for the thousands of families in need.
Funds raised also directly benefit the community through funding vital research, safe sleeping, pregnancy education and bereavement support.
Public support of Red Nose Day is critical to help stop babies dying unexpectedly each day.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
